Doors open at 7.00pm and the screening commences at 7.30pm.
Film Society membership is available at the door if you are not already a member. If you have friends and neighbours you can bring along we naturally welcome new members. Please come along on the night.
PRICING INFORMATION
Being a Film Society we can not charge an admission, but do ask for our patrons to become a member of the SPAT Film Society. Annual membership as at Jan 2023 is:
- $20 for an individual adult
- $15 for a student, school age child or a concession
Note: Membership is for the calendar year, i.e. till Dec 2023.
The SPAT Film Society is a non-profit group which screens four films, generally each calendar year. As a SPAT Film Society member you will be given plenty of notice of our screening dates by email. In addition we always publish the screening dates on our website as well as erecting street signs in the local area.
Venue
Our movies are screened in the CWA Hall, 15 The Drive, Stanwell Park and start at 7.30pm.
Our History
The SPAT Film Society was started in 1999, by a small group of enthusiast led by David Gosden. David purchased a screen, tracked down a couple of 16mm projectors and joined the National Library of Australia (Film and Video Lending Collection). Over the next few years, the film society screened a number of films, from silent to unusual. With lots of help we became a small but successful society and another good example of the broad nature of SPAT.
Around 2005 we have had the opportunity to use a video projector, increasing greatly the number of available films that we can screen. We now source films from the ABC, Roadshow, Madmen and Tri-Star Columbia, to name a few, in-addition to the National Film Library.
Our main aim is to screen good entertaining films.
